The English translation of the Nepali novel "Phoolange" will be released on April 17th by Penguin Random House India (PRHI). Darjeeling-based writer Lekhnath Chhetri authors the book and focuses on the unsuccessful Gorkha campaign for an independent state. The novel's original Nepali translation was shortlisted for the Madan Puraskar, Nepal's most prestigious literary prize, in 2021.

The novel "Phoolange" narrates the tale of the Gorkhaland movement in India's Darjeeling hills through the perspective of its principal character, Pritam. The story delves into the social, political, and economic factors that contributed to the establishment of the movement and the ensuing bloodshed. "Phoolange" translates as "Those Who Scatter Flowers" in English and refers to the Gorkhaland movement's peaceful attitude. The story focuses on the Nepali-speaking people in the Darjeeling hills and their aspiration for Gorkhaland, a distinct state.
